The God of Heaven has given us His Living Word, in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son.  He has given us the Manual for life, the Holy Bible and the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us into all truth (John 16:13.)  God has adopted us into His family.  We are the Body of Christ.

The Christian needs a comprehensive knowledge of the Person and work of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is one of the three Persons of the Blessed Trinity, which consists of the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is eternal (Hebrews 9:14).  He has no beginning or end.  The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit is Omnipotent, all powerful (Luke 1:35; Psalm 62:11).  He is Omniscient, knows all things (I Corinthians 2:10-11).  He’s Omnipresent, present everywhere at the same time (Psalm 139:7).

The Deity of the Holy Spirit

Genesis 1:2
In the beginning God created the heaven and earth.  And the earth was without form, And void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.  And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.  LB
Acts 5:3, 4
Is called God
But Peter said, “Ananias, Satan filled your heart.  When you claimed this was the full price, you were lying to the Holy Spirit. The property was yours to sell or not, as you wished.  And after selling it, it was yours to decide how much to give.  How could you do a thing like this?  You weren’t lying to us, but to God.”  LB
Matthew 28:19
Triune God
Therefore go and make disciples in all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and then teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you: and be sure of this—that I am with you always, even to the end of the world.  LB
I Corinthians 12:6, 11
There are many ways in which God works in our lives, but it is the same God who does the work in and through all of us who are his.  The Holy Spirit displays God’s power through each of us as a means of helping the entire church.  LB
Hebrews 9:14
Eternal Spirit
Just think how much more surely the blood of Christ will transform our lives and hearts.  His sacrifice frees us from the worry of having to obey the old rules, and makes us want to serve the living God.  For by the help of the eternal Holy Spirit, Christ willingly gave himself to God to die for our sins – He being perfect, without a single sin or fault.  LB
Luke 1:35
The angel replied, The Holy Spirit shall come upon you, and the power of God shall overshadow you; so the baby born to you will be utterly holy – the Son of God.  LB
I Corinthians 2:10, 11
But we know about these things because God has sent his Spirit to tell us, and his Spirit searches out and shows us all of God’s deepest secrets.  No one can really know what anyone else is thinking, or what he is really like, except that person himself.  And no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit.  LB
Psalm 139:7-13
Where can I go to get away from your Spirit?  Where can I run to get away from you?  If I go up to heaven, you are there.  If I make my bed in hell, you are there.  If I climb upward on the rays of the morning sun or land on the most distant shore of the sea where the sun sets, even there your hand would guide me and your right hand would hold on to me.  If I say, let the darkness hide me and let the light around me turn into night, even the darkness is not too dark for you.  Night is as bright as day.  Darkness and light are the same to you.  You alone created my inner being.  You knitted me together inside my mother.  GWF
John 3:3, 4 & 8
New Creation
Jesus replied to Nicodemus, “I can guarantee this truth: No one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.”  Nicodemus asked him, “How can anyone be born when he’s an old man?  He can’t go back inside his mother a second time to be born, can he?”  The wind blows wherever it pleases.  You hear its sound, but you don’t know where the wind comes from or where it’s going.  That’s the way it is with everyone born of the Spirit.  GWF
Matthew 12:31, 32
Eternal Sin Against
So I can guarantee that people will be forgiven for any sin or cursing.  However, cursing the Spirit will not be forgiven.  Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven.  But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven in this world or the next.  GWF
