Understanding the Revelation Gifts
- The Word of Wisdom
This is the actual application of knowledge that God gives you. It is a gift. It is not received from studying or experiences you’ve had.
Biblical Examples of the Word of Wisdom

The gift of Wisdom is the Wisdom of God. It is the supernatural impartation of facts…
It is received from God through prayer (Ephesians 1:17).
- The Word of Knowledge
This is supernatural Knowledge that you need, regarding situations, circumstances, or problems.
Biblical Example of Word of Knowledge
Joshua knew about Achan’s sin (Joshua 7:10-11) Elisha knew about Gehazi’s lying
(2 Kings 5:20-27) The Gifts of Word of Wisdom and the Word of Knowledge are raw,
Material and wisdom builds on them.
3. Discerning of Spirits
Discerning of spirits is the supernatural ability given by the Holy Spirit to perceive and
Determine whether something is of God, the devil, or man.
The Spirit World
- The world of the Spirit of God
- The world of the spirit of the enemy
- The world of the human spirit
The Discerning of spirits enables you to tell which spirit is operating.

Receive These Gifts
The Gift of Wisdom, Knowledge, and Discernment come by Prayer:
- Desire them
- Ask for them
- Pray to receive them
- Do what God says in 1 Corinthians 12:31, “Covet earnestly the best Gifts”
Purpose of the Gifts
The purposes of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit can be found in Ephesians 4:12-15
Purposes are to:
- Perfect the saints
- Promote the work of the ministry
- Edify the Body of Christ
The Objectives of Spiritual Gifts are for believers to:
- Become united in the Faith
- Develop and grow in the knowledge of Jesus and walk in the fullness of Christ
- Develop in perfection, with Christ as the pattern for our purpose
- Become stable, not deceived by false doctrines
- Mature spiritually in Christ (grow up in all things)
The Trinity and the Gifts
All three Persons of the Trinity are involved in empowering believers with Spiritual Gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)
The Father (1st Person), the Son, the Lord [Jesus Christ] (2nd Person) and the Holy Spirit (3rd Person) of the Trinity are all mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:4-6)
